Fjærekapellet (The Chapel in the shallows)

Fjærekapellet almost didn´t make it into the final version EP.
But I was talked into it, and I`m happy it is here.
It is a bit different from the other songs, and it aludes to
my facination with the idea that everything comes to an end, the symbolism of the church in folklore tradition and its symbiotic relationship with the wild nature around it.

It has later come to my atention that the chapel is infact not in disrepair anymore. And it is being taken care of. Which is good news.

lyrics

Norwegian Lyrics:

Nerom skåne og veg
Neri gråurens strand
Ligg eit lite kapell neri fjera
Med sitt blågråe tak og sin snø kvite drakt,
står det stolt i sin prakt, skuar fjorden.

Korkje tjenar i skip
Eller prost med si bok
Da e longt mellom kvar syndagmesse
Men da samla seg småfulgl i møne of spir og da samla seg ekkorn på tunet

kom alli kring
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Te messe
kom alli kring
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Te messe

Nerom skåne og veg
Neri gråurens strand
Lagar skuggane haler i kveldning
Ingen folk e å sjå
Berre sjor, store, små
Pillar råte frå havklokka store

kom alli kring
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Te messe
kom alli kring
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Høyr dokk ikkje klokkane ringlar
Te messe

English Lyrics:
Down the steep road
towards the grey stony beach
there is a little chapel in the shallows

With its bluegray roof
and bright white walls
it stands tall
keeping watch over the waters

There are no church servant in the ship(main part of an holy building)
no bookholding priest
it is far between mass these days
But in the towers, little birds gather
and in the courtyard the squirrels gather

Come, all around
can´t your hear the bells
can´t your hear the bells
for mass
Come, all around
can´t your hear the bells
can´t your hear the bells
for mass

Down the steep road
towards the grey stony beach
The shadows are getting long in the evening
no people to see, only magpies, big and small
picking rot of the great bell

Come, all around
can´t your hear the bells
can´t your hear the bells
for mass
Come, all around
can´t your hear the bells
can´t your hear the bells
for mass
